Open Letter
Councillor Neil Swannick,
Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority
Getting complex waste management projects from the drawing board to financial close is notoriously difficult. Earlier this year, Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority's ground breaking £640 million transaction - the largest in Western Europe - reached financial close, despite facing one of the most difficult financing environments for decades.
For this reason, City & Financial have decided to hold their annual waste management conference in Manchester this year so that it can focus not just on the GMWDA's project, but also on the projects that other authorities in the region are bringing to financial close. The idea is to provide a forum in which delegates can learn from others that have been through the process and for them to get a really ‘hands on’ experience that will include meeting directly with the people involved in different aspects of the projects.
The GMWDA is delighted to host the event, which has the official support of the Waste Infrastructure Delivery Programme, Partnerships UK, Local Partnerships and Defra. It also has a speaker line up of exceptional quality, including Dan Norris MP, Minister for Rural Affairs and Environment, and Sir Richard Leese, Chair of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) Review Group and Vice Chair of the AGMA.
I hope you can join us at the conference on 18th & 19th November 2009.
Yours sincerely,
Councillor Neil Swannick
