The 9th Annual PPP European Summit

5 May - 7 May 2009

We are delighted to be the co-organizer and host of the 9th Annual PPP European Summit in Warsaw on 5-7 May 2009.

Against the backdrop of a faltering world economy and the crisis in the global financial system, governments across Europe are increasingly recognising the attractions and advantages of public private partnerships (PPPs) as a delivery and financing mechanism for much needed infrastructure.

PPP programmes throughout Europe vary greatly, from the highly developed and well-established PPP nations to the emerging PPP markets that are beginning to evolve in central and eastern Europe. This creates the opportunity to learn and benefit from the experience that other nations have gained in developing their national PPP programmes.

Poland's government is in favour of developing its country's infrastructure through the use of PPPs in order to modernise, in particular, the transport, health, sport and leisure sectors. The Ministry of Economy is confident that the new PPP Act will move the barriers to effective collaboration between the public and private sectors and facilitate innovative partnerships that can deliver high quality public services.

This summit will provide a forum in which the public sector and the private sector will have the opportunity to discuss and draw on the various experiences of different European countries, as well as to share best practice. It will also identify in detail the various project pipelines in the region.

I look forward to meeting you at the summit.
